our program

Our Program

The mission of the Wichita Mountains Area Senior Citizens Association is to provide the people of Northwest Comanche County, sixty years of age or older, a full range of nutritional, recreational, educational, and social activities to enrich and enhance their lives and their welfare. Seniors from other parts of the area are welcome to participate in our activities. As we are recovering from the devastating  fire that destroyed our Legion Building, we are meeting at the First Baptist Church of Medicine Park, in their Fellowship Hall, our program has been reduced to just feeding and dominoes. Soon, we are looking at the end of September or the first part of October, we will begin to reconstitute the old activities from the Legion Building and improve on them. The center will move into the Stoney Point School building. Volunteers and a little bit of hired help will change the three classrooms into activity rooms for senior-oriented classes that will be identified by the seniors and implemented by qualified instructors, physical training activities with Yoga and DVD-led Tai Chi and low-impact exercise equipment and Line Dancing lessons, a self-serve library with computer/Internet access. There will be a room for the domino tables and a room for dining. There is already a fully equipped kitchen that is ready for the preparation of food for Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Two large meeting rooms at the front of the building will be made into one and equipped to serve as a ballroom with dance floor and bandstand, ready for the public's family reunions, weddings and receptions, and country dances.
