Eva Williams, President of WMASCC, Has Died

Eva Williams, the long-time president of the Wichita Mountains Area Senior Citizens Center passed away on Sunday, March 4. She was hospitalized on February 12 with heart and lung problems from which she was unable to recover. Services and enturnment will be on Wednesday, March 7. Time and location will be published later.

Vice President Buddy Dye also died recently, and the position of vice president has not been filled. The remaining Directors will meet in the next few days to discuss the status of the center.

Center Suspends All Activity Due To Covid-19

No Meals/No Dominoes/No Gathering/No Yoga or Dance

Return to full activities at the Fellowship Hall, First Baptist Church of Medicine Park will likely happen when the majority of our members have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Some members have expressed concern about the new vaccines. A very insightful Lawton Constitution article (Dec. 4, 2020) offers an apolitical discussion of this issue. CDC guidance states that "...all persons over 65 years of age are of increased of risk of being infected with COVID-19. " CDC guidelines <Click for Guidelines>, and those the govenor of Oklahoma and the mayor of Medicine Park will be followed during the transition back to full operation.

The CDC Lists the most common symptoms:

These symptoms usually appear two days to two weeks after exposure to the virus.

Fever or chills

Cough

Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

Fatigue

Muscle or body aches

Headache

·New loss of taste or smell

Sore throat

Congestion or runny nose

Nausea or vomiting

Diarrhea

Fever is the most common symptom

The Vaccine: Researcher has found that people with excess body weight (defined as having a body mass index -BMI- over 30) had weaker immunity after a flu vaccine and were twice as likely to still get the flu even after receiving the shot.

WE CAN EXPECT THE SAME RESULTS FROM THE UPCOMING COVID-19 VACCINE!!
